The topiary is once again very trendy in our contemporary landscape.
Sphagnum topiary produces quick results.
After shaping a steel mesh we stuff it with sphagnum moss through a small hole we had previously made in the frame.
Then you can grow English ivy, Boston ivy … Vines grow quickly and can be trained to wrap around a frame.
You can also add different kind of plants and flowers that grow out of the sphagnum moss. Water daily and voilà !

Alternanthera ficoidea – Joseph’s Coat
Begonia semperflorens-cultorum – Wax Leaf Begonia
Ficus pumila – Creeping Fig
Hedera helix – English Ivy
The Grangier tree nursery in La Croix Valmer welcomes you every day and has been open to all of you for years, we explain to our clients how to make topiaries with sphagnum to beautify their environment: our primary aim.
Each spring, during the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, gardeners and landscapers create new characters topiaries (many of them with sphagnum) that move, turn and produce some fun effects and it’s an enchantment !

In addition, you can discover fantastic photos of amazing artistic botanical sphagnum sculptures from the last Beijing 29th Olympic games in summer 2008 in China.
This exhibit was especially done with the aim of preserving the biodiversity.
Over 40 million plants and more than 500 species of flowers were used to decorate the gardens with fantastic sphagnum topiaries.
Finaly, just for fun, I decided to show you some delightful green natural moss characters from the gardens of Heligan, seat of the Tremayne family for more than 400 years, one of the most mysterious estates in England.
